Nursing Foundation Selects Speaker
for High Tea
The Massachusetts Nurses Foundation has selected Mary Beth
Mathews, Ph.D., RN, director, University of Hartford School
of Nursing and Ohio State Nurses Association past president
as its featured speaker for High Tea at the Ritz Carlton in
Boston on March 24, 2000 from 1-3 p.m. High Tea is a
popular event for the Foundation, providing nurses with an
opportunity to enjoy a prominent speaker in the luxuriant
surroundings of high society.
Dr. Mathews will be presenting a “Light and Lively Look at
Nursing in the Millenium.” Her professional scholarship has
included national presentations and refereed publications
including Research on the Baccalaureate Completion Process
for RN’s. Her areas of research interest are faculty development,
applied scholarship and interdisciplinary education and practice.
Dr. Mathews is a member of the ANA Board of Directors, two
terms as president of the Ohio State Nurses Association and
chairman of the executive committees of the ANA Council on
Continuing Education and of the Constituent Assembly. She
serves as a site visitor for the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program
and is certified by the ANCC in Nursing Continuing Education
