A Letter from the Organizing Committee
We are dedicated to taking control of our own future,
no longer relying on management to take care of us. With collective
bargaining rights management will no longer be able to make unilateral
decisions that affect our terms and conditions of employment. We
will be equals in the decision making process as it affects our
patients and our practice.
In the present health care environment organizing
a union is the most professional and effective decision we can make
to enable us to advocate for our patients and our practice.
In the September 8, 2000, Nurse Future letter, management
presented many questions that they believe we should ask. The only
important questions for us to ask are: 1.) Who makes the decisions
now at South Shore Hospital? And 2.) Do we want to be part of the
decision making process? If the answer to the second question
is "yes", the only way for us to gain this right and have a seat
at the table where the decisions are made affecting our patients
and our practice is through collective bargaining.
Join with us in voting YES for a union. Let us take
control of our future.
In Unity,
