Unit 7 executive board supports disaffiliation

The executive board  for MNA  State Chapter Unit 7, the MNA local bargaining unit for state-employed nurses and health care professionals, passed a motion at its Sept. 11 meeting stating, "The Unit 7 Executive Board recommends MNA disaffiliation from ANA."

The motion passed with a unanimous vote. The rationale for the motion stated: "To maintain viability of the organization, the profession of nursing and other health care professions and to embrace the future outlined in the ‘Reallocation of Resources.'"

The executive board is the elected leadership body for Unit 7, which comprises nurses and health care professionals working in a variety of state-run facilities and departments. Only Unit 7 members who are registered nurses are members of MNA and will be eligible to vote at the MNA Business Meeting.
