Solidarity Rally and Cookout
On Day 100 of the Nurses' Strike

Save the date, spread the word. As the Brockton Nurses strike drags on with no negotiations scheduled, the nurses are planning a major rally to coincide with their 100th day on strike, which just happens to be on the Labor Day Weekend, Saturday, Sept. 1st. Please share this information with your email networks. A number of unions, MNA bargaining units and other health care and labor activists groups will be participating. The nurses need and deserve our support as they continue their valiant fight on behalf of their profession and their patients.

Saturday, September 1, 2001 12 Noon - 2 p.m.
Brockton Hospital Strike Line
707A Centre St., Brockton, MA.

  • The Brockton Hospital Nurses have been on strike since May 25, 2001.
  • They are fighting for a fair contract settlement that obligates the hospital to make its best efforts to fully staff the hospital to ensure safe care and to prevent the dangerous practice of mandatory overtime.
  • The hospital refuses to negotiate in good faith and is spending millions of dollars to break the strike and deprive the Brockton community of the quality health care they rightfully deserve.

Concerned community members, nurses and allied health professionals, labor unionists, state and local political leaders are encouraged to join the nurses on Sept. 1st to rally in solidarity with the nurses in a call for an end to this strike. The day will include speeches, music, food and refreshments.
