National Public Radio's excellent coverage of the JAMA study on nurse to patient ratios and patient mortality

Below is the link to National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" archive, which contains recordings of an Oct. 22 newsbroadcast on the release of the JAMA study showing that when nurses are assigned more than four patients, the risk of death to patients increases. Go to this page and scroll down near the bottom for the Nursing Shortage story. There you will find the news story, an indepth interview with Nursing Author Suzanne Gordon, as well as an excellent commentary by a nurse who has left nursing because of the deplorable conditions. Share this link with other nurses, with policymakers and fellow activists who want to learn more about the importance of safe staffing for the health and safety of our hospitalized patients.
