MNA 2008 Occupational Exposure Survey

In 2004 the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) issued an "ALERT-Preventing Occupational Exposures to Antineoplastic and other Hazardous Drugs in Health Care Settings". In response to this ALERT, this 20-25 minute survey has been developed by the Massachusetts Nurses Association, Congress on Health and Safety. The purpose is to identify potential exposures and current practices related to hazardous drugs.

For the purposes of this survey, wherever the term "Hazardous Drugs" is used, it refers to any product that is either

  1. Carcinogenic,
  2. Teratogenic,
  3. Toxic to reproductive organs, or
  4. Toxic to other specific organs at low doses. When the term "Medications" is used it refers to ANY pharmaceutical agents being used, including those that are Hazardous Drugs.

If you need to leave the survey before you are done, just hit "Exit Survey" at the top right of the page. You will be able to reenter the site again at a later time, but the data you had previously entered will need to be replaced. If you hit "minimize", your work will be saved until you return. Once you hit the "Done" button at the bottom of the survey page, you will either be prompted to questions that still require additional information or answer formatting, or your survey will be accepted and you will be released from the survey site.

The information gathered from the results of this survey will be used to develop and implement related training programs to improve safety practices. Your participation in this survey will lead to greater understanding of workplace exposures and risks to nurses. Only aggregate data will be released, individual responses will remain confidential. Thank you in advance for your support and contribution.
