MetroWest Medical Center/Leonard Morse Hospital Nurses to Hold Food Drive To Support Food Pantries in Natick

Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Roche Bros Supermarket in Natick

NATICK, MA — The registered nurses from the Leonard Morse Hospital campus of MetroWest Medical Center, who are members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association/National Nurses United (MNA/NNU), will be holding a Food Drive to support Natick food pantries on Saturday, June 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Roche Bros. Supermarket, located at 150 West Central St. in Natick.

“As nurses we understand the importance of good nutrition for families struggling in these tough economic times, and particularly during the summer months when children aren’t in school and do not have access to school lunches,” said Lynn Shaw, co-chair of the MNA/Leonard Morse nurses’ local bargaining unit. “This makes summer a very busy time for our food pantries and the shelves are often bare. The nurses want to do what they can to support the families in our local community.”

Food collected will benefit A Place to Turn and Natick Service Council Food Pantry. “Certain foods are most in demand this time of year and we hope the good people in our local community will help us stock the food pantry shelves with those items.” said Vicki Emerson RN, also a bargaining unit co-chair.

Specific foods sought by the food pantries include: peanut butter, jelly, cereals, snack foods, cookies, crackers, macaroni & cheese, pasta, pasta sauce, condiments (especially ketchup), juice (cans, bottles or juice boxes, canned tuna and coffee.

Please consider purchasing these items and dropping them off at Roche Brothers on Saturday, June 16 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.|
