North County Cares Coalition Members to Speak at the North Adams Council on Aging/Mary Spitzer Senior Center on the Health Needs of Northern Berkshire County and the Rationale for Restoration of a Full Service Hospital to Meet Those Needs

When:    Wednesday May 20 at 10 a.m.

Where:     Mary Spitzer Senior Center, 116 Ashland St, North Adams, MA

As the debate continues over the need for and access to appropriate health care services to meet the needs of the residents of Northern Berkshire County following the closing of North Adams Regional Hospital, the North Adams Council on Aging at the Mary Spitzer Senior Center has invited members of the North County Cares Coalition to make a presentation to seniors and others who are concerned about the future of health care in the region.

The event will feature a presentation by Nykole Roche, a researcher and associate director with the Massachusetts Nurses Association, detailing the findings of a comprehensive report on the disparities in health needs in Berkshire County, the impact of the closing of the hospital on meeting those needs and the data and rationale to support restoration of a full service hospital at Berkshire Medical Center North.

The North County Cares Coalition is an alliance of concerned residents, health and community advocates that was formed last year to ensure access to comprehensive health services for the residents of Northern Berkshire County.
