More than 500 RNs and patient advocates from across the United States rallied in front of the Nation’s Capitol to hear speakers on single-payer health care and two health care bills including the National Nursing Shortage Reform and Patient Advocacy Act, sponsored by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Ca) and the Nurse and Healthcare Worker Protection Act of 2009, sponsored by Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.). Speakers included representatives from the California Nurses Association/NNOC, the United American Nurses, and MNA as well as Actor Mike Farrell and Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT).
