Clarification Regarding Authorized Vaccinators for 2010 – 2011 Flu Season

The MA Board of Registration in Nursing has forwarded the attached letter from MDPH updating and clarifying who may currently legally administer influenza vaccinations in the Commonwealth.

Last year, given the threat of an H1N1 pandemic, MDPH issued emergency regs expanding the categories of people permitted to administer flu vaccine to include EMTs, nursing and medical students and dentists, in addition to pharmacists. Last year’s order has recently been rescinded. Pharmacists however are still permitted to administer vaccine as explained detailed in this letter.
