MNA members, along with mental health advocates, concerned patients and family members, community leaders and elected officials packed a Department of Public Health hearing at Burbank Hospital to voice strong opposition to the proposed closing of 15-bed psychiatric unit. Below is some media coverage from the event. You can also view a full page ad the MNA ran in both the Telegram & Gazette and Sentinel & Enterprise prior to the event. The MNA along with our partner in this campaign, the National Alliance on Mental Illness Massachusetts, are deeply concerned about the loss of inpatient psychiatric beds throughout the state and the impact this is having on our mental health safety net. We also need to acknowledge the tremendous support on this issue we have received from the legislative delegation serving Northern Worcester County, led by State Senator Jennifer Flanagan (D-Leominster) and State Representative Steven DiNatale (D-Fitchburg).
