BOSTON—An investigation by New Hampshire authorities into the practices of a lab that allegedly used models to coax shoppers into expensive bone marrow tests has drawn the attention of the Massachusetts attorney general.
A spokesman for Attorney General Martha Coakley said Thursday that the office is reviewing the actions of the Caitlin Raymond International Registry and UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester.
New Hampshire Attorney General Michael Delaney said Wednesday his office investigating whether unfair and deceptive practices were used. He says the lab billed $4,336 for the tests, well above the $110 other labs charge.
The lab and the Caitlin Raymond International Registry issued a statement saying they are "confident" they will be able address the concerns of investigators.
