RNs Fighting to Retain Union Rights
After almost a year of negotiations, the Registered Nurses of the Baystate Visiting Nurses Association are taking their fight to retain their union rights to the community with two informational picket lines. The members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association bargaining unit are frustrated by the negotiations which have dragged on since January. In these sessions Baystate is attempting to dictate wages and health insurance provisions rather than negotiate these issues.
To get the word out the nurses have scheduled two pickets. The first picket on Monday will be in front of the agency in downtown Springfield. The second picket on Tuesday will be at the construction site of Baystate’s “Hospital of the Future.”
