North Adams Regional Hospital’s Greylock Pavilion offers a comprehensive program for adults requiring acute psychiatric care. There is already a shortage of behavioral health treatment beds in Massachusetts and if Greylock Pavilion were to close, patients and families would have to travel far from North County for their care and more patients would crowd the emergency department at the hospital. For this reason the Department of Public Health conducted a Hearing on November 1. Subsequently, DPH issued a finding that the services the hospital intends to close are “necessary for preserving access and health status in the Hospital’s service area.”
This community forum is in response to DPH’s request that the Hospital “work with the community to assess options other than closure.”
Come and join the discussion on December 10 to:
- Find out about the services currently being provided and the proposed plan to eliminate them
- Be a part of an open discussion of current needs in our community
- Share in an open discussion to generate ideas about the next steps we can take as a community to ensure that care remains available in North Berkshire County
Co-sponsored by the Adams Council on Aging, Berkshire Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc., Elizabeth Freeman Center, Massachusetts Nurses Association/National Nurses United, National Alliance on Mental Illness of Berkshire County, Service Employees International Union 1199, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chap 54.
