Saturday, August 2 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Price Chopper Supermarket in Marlborough
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — The registered nurses from Marlborough Hospital, who are members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association/National Nurses United (MNA/NNU), will be holding a food drive to support The Marlborough Community Cupboard on Saturday, August 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Price Chopper Supermarket, located at 240 East Street in Marlborough.
“As nurses we understand the importance of good nutrition for families struggling in these tough economic times, and particularly during the summer months when children aren’t in school and do not have access to school lunches,” said Julie Lyver RN, co-chair of the MNA/Marlborough Hospital nurses’ local bargaining unit. “This makes summer a very busy time for our food pantries and the shelves are often bare. The nurses want to do what they can to support the families in our community.”
Food collected will benefit The Marlborough Community Cupboard. “Certain foods are most in demand this time of year and we hope the good people of our local community will help us stock the food pantry shelves with those items.” said Pamela Fondas, RN and also a bargaining unit co-chair.
Specific foods sought by the food pantry at this time include: canned tuna, canned corn, canned ravioli, peanut butter, jelly/jam, prepared meals (Hamburger Helper, rice mixes), cake and cookie mixes, snacks, raisins, crackers, personal hygiene items (toothpaste, shampoo, soap, deodorant, toilet paper).
Please consider purchasing these items and dropping them off at Price Chopper on Saturday, August 2, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
