AFL-CIO's National Federation of Unions Sends Letter To Tenet CEO Supporting the St. Vincent Nurses
Calls for Equitable End to Eight Month Strike
The AFL-CIO national leadership has sent a letter to Tenet CEO Saum Sutaria, registering the federation’s support for the St. Vincent nurses strike and calling on him to resolve the corporations’ unfair labor practices and negotiate an equitable end to the nearly eight month work stoppage. The AFL-CIO is a federation of 57 national and international labor unions representing more than 12.5 million working men and women. This is the latest in growing number of organizations and policy makers, including the Mayor of Worcester and the entire Massachusetts Congressional Delegation, who are standing with the St. Vincent nurses against Tenet Healthcare in their struggle for safer patient care and in opposition to Tenet’s unprecedented and illegal efforts to retaliate against and to deny the nurses a return to the positions they held prior to the strike.
