RE “LATEST myth on health reform’’ (Op-ed, Aug. 21): Renée Loth’s piece is sincere, well written, and completely beside the point. It is a classic example of why liberals lose the arguments they ought to win.
Loth allows herself (along with the Globe) to be side-tracked into disproving ridiculous “abortion mandate’’ claims by the opposition instead of hewing to the central point: health care is broken and needs to be fixed.
As long as liberals follow this well-worn and failure-prone path the results will be predictable. The opposition will change the subject, liberals will take the bait, thereby defocusing the discussion, and the media will cover the argument rather than the issue. Nothing will change.
