This 45 minute documentary was nominated for an Academy Award. It pays tribute to the women factory workers and wives of male strikers who helped win one of the greatest victories of American labor unionism: the 1937 sit-down strike at the General Motors plants in Flint, Michigan. The film includes actual footage from 1937 and interviews with some of the leaders of the Women’s Emergency Brigade 40 years later This film highlights gency Brigade 40 years later. This film highlights how issues of gender and racial equality remain central to today’s labor movement.
